Weekly Update 3/5/17

Dear Sacred Heart Parents and Guardians,

I am writing you today to share some fantastic news. After a national search, we are very excited to announce that Mr. Robert Yevich will be our new principal for 2017-2018 school year. Mr. Yevich is currently the principal of Nativity Catholic School in Brandon, where he has served with distinction for the past two years. A lifelong resident of Pinellas County and graduate of Transfiguration Catholic School and St. Petersburg Catholic High School, Mr. Yevich stated in his interview that, I want to continue my vocation in the community I call home."

Mr. Yevich holds degrees from the University of South Florida and the University of Notre Dame. He has been a driving force in our Diocese as a member of several key educational committees. Most importantly, Mr. Yevich leads with faith and zeal in all areas of Catholic education.

Our faculty and staff are meeting Mr. Yevich today. We will be having an initial meeting with partners in the very near future. And so, on behalf of the Office of Catholic Schools and our partners at Notre Dame ACE Academies, please join me in welcoming Mr. Robert Yevich to the Sacred Heart community!

Season of Lent
At Sacred Heart this lent, we are living our journey to the cross in the following ways:

1) Confessions on March 31st (grades 2-4) andApril 7th (10am-12pm).
2) Stations of the cross: The 8th graders are leading students K-4 through the Stations of the Cross.
3) 5th grade will present the Stations of the Cross onApril 7thfrom10am to 12pm.
4) Long-Sleeve T-shirt drive- please bring in your long sleeve t-shirts for migrant workers.
5) Canned food drive- please bring in canned foods.
Registration was due by February 29th, 2017 to reserve your seat

Current Families K-8: Registration for 2017-2018 opens on Monday, January 23rd, 2017 for the 2017-2018 school year. This year we are unable to have an online registration because the school is transition information systems (this only affects us internally right now). A registration packet is going homeMondaywith your youngest child. The form is pre-filled with all the information we have on file. In order to complete your child's registration, please fill-in any blank spaces on the registration form. If a space is already filled in, but you need to change the information, please write the change on the "change card" so we canupdateour database. To finalize registration, the following items need to be submitted:
  • $200 registration fee
  • Financial commitment form
  • Registration form
  • If applicable, SUFS and AAA recipients, please submit your award letter
Tuition for 2017-2018: $6,190
Registration opens to new families on March 1st, 2017. In order to secure your seat, all registration documents and fees need to be submitted by this date.
VPK Families or Current Families with income change: If you are applying for Step Up for Students Financial Aid, new families are able to apply startingMonday, January 23rd. Renewals must get their information in or your family risks losing their scholarship.

Casino / Auction Night Donation Items Needed
Casino / Auction Night: Saturday, April 29th
Come enjoy a fun night out with family and friends! Our Home and School Board is hosting an auction/casino night for our family and friends. The auction portion will consist of a silent auction of baskets, class projects, and high quality donated items. We need your assistance with donation of items to help create the class baskets. The baskets are written below and any item that would be good for the basket will support the school. Please bring your receipts for the items, and 2-hours will be given per 25-hours:

Spring Festival is a wonderful time to celebrate our Sacred Heart community. As our community comes together we reveal Christ's love among us. Thank you for your support in all efforts of the festival.
There are three items that have or will go home in regards to Spring Festival:
1)Mega Arm Band Sale: A new option being offered this year is a mega-arm band for $75.00. This arm band will give you access into the ride section every day and all day. It is  potential savings of up to $75.00.
2)Volunteer Sign-Up: for Service Hours: Please return the form to the main office with your three options to work for service hours.
3)Ride Tickets: Ride tickets have gone home! Please check your child's backpack. The tickets need to be purchased or returned to the main office to avoid a $100 charge.
